The return from last week course with my company’s team in Portugal had a strong impact, and I felt extremely awful this entire week. As if all the progress I felt I had made in working through my burn-out was brushed aside.

This week I

  • Communicated to my team how I felt during our Monday weekly all hands call, later in the week discussed how to deal with some of that, and actively handed over several items of work to others in sessions throughout the week. Also cancelled some obligations this week, one workshop and presentation at very short notice, but I really had to ditch it. Luckily the client is a long time contact and when I indicated mental stress accepted me bowing out without hassle. Thank you!
  • Had the weekly client meetings, and noticed that my work at Geonovum does give me energy, and makes me feel more at ease.
  • Had our monthly all-hands afternoon at the office, though this was one we kept short as we spent last week together already. A short reflection on what to do as follow-up from the work in Portugal.
  • Had the kick-off of a small government writing group to draft feedback for the European Commission on an upcoming piece of legislation
  • Wrote in fits and starts on the guidance for the Data Governance Act for Dutch government entities. Finally feel I’m getting into the writing. Hopefully next week gives me ample time to do that too.
  • Had an online meeting of the steering committee for that DGA guiding document, which was more fun than I had anticipated.
  • Had a catch-up conversation with the director of Defend Democracy.
  • Visited E’s aunt for her birthday, while Y had a party to visit elsewhere too.
  • Visited my sister and her family for Easter.
  • Agreed with friends to spend a weekend together in May, plans to be made.
