This is a brief overview of the timeline of my personal online web presence.

From when the Mosaic browser was released (in September 1993 for Microsoft computers) until in 1996 I had a tilde page at my electronic engineering student association.

From some time in 1997 to november 2002, I had a personal website on a subdomain of my ISP (zylstra.demon.nl, still available on archive.org). Demon had just entered the Dutch market as ISP and gave me a fixed IP address. I also had a webserver under my desk thanks to that, but that was only available if I was dialed up. This was static web content, for which I wrote all HTML on Notepad.

In the fall of 2002 knowledge management friends convinced me to try blogging. From november 2002 for 6 months I blogged at Blogger, at interdependent.blogspot.com.
I moved that blog to here, zylstra.org in early May 2003, where it still resides to this day. Alongside it for a while I used interdependent.biz where I blogged in Dutch and German. Some but not all of those postings are now integrated here, and I still might lift them from the Internet Archive.

I hosted my blog myself from May 2003 to September 2007 on a PC under my desk at home. We had an ISDN connection, one line of which was permanently connected to my ISP using a fixed IP address.
Since then it has been hosted by the same local hosting provider, your-webhost.nl.

For CMS, after the start on Blogger, I first used Movable Type from May 2003, until March 2012, when I moved to WordPress, which still runs this site.
