Exposure (2010), the 25 meter high, 44 tons of steel statue, by Antony Gormley at the start of the dam running right across the IJsselmeer, former Southern Sea, from Lelystad to Enkhuizen. Saw it yesterday from the venue of the event I spoke at. Turns out it’s made by the father of someone I know.

About

Blog Interdependent Thoughts maintained since 2002 by Ton Zijlstra.
European citizen in a networked world. Based in the Netherlands, living in Europe, working globally. There are no Others. There is just me and many of you.

I write about how our digital and networked world changes how we work, learn, decide and organize. I explore the tools and strategies that help us navigate the networked world. I am passionate about increasing people's ability to act (knowledge), and their ability to change (learning). Key-words: open data, open government, fablabs, making, complexity, networked agency, networked learning, ethics by design.

    • The Blog and Wiki Combo In reply to Introduced to infostrats by Neil Mather To me blogs and wikis are the original social software. My blog emerged as a personal knowledge management tool (Harold Jarche is the go-to source for PKM). Knowledge management to me has always been a very people centered, social thing. Learning through distributed conversations, networked learning […]

    • Networked Agency, At State of the Net 2018 Today I am enjoying the 2018 edition of the State of the Net conference, in Italy. Organised by Beniamino Pagliaro, Paolo Valdemarin and Sergio Maistrello. Beniamino Pagliaro opening the conference this morning This morning I provided a key note on Networked Agency, where I talked about rediscovering our ability to act. As networked groups, in […]

    • Data Sovereignty as Prerequisite for Open Data Agency As we are living in a networked world, increasingly government bodies execute their tasks while collaborating in networks of various other stakeholders. This also happens when it comes to collecting, providing or working with data as part of public tasks. One of the potential detrimental side effects is that it quickly becomes unclear who can […]

    • Increasing Brain Capacity by Offloading to the Environment Dave Pollard picks up on Elmine’s thinking on weblogs as communication hubs, extended by me into the Personal Presence Portal, and writes a worthwile piece. The basic distinction he makes is seperating between aspects of blogs that make it a communication medium, and those that make it a communication tool. Interesting stuff I’ll have to […]
