A pleasant week that we spent in Switzerland visiting friends as Y had a week off from school.

This week I

  • Drove to Switzerland on Monday with E and Y, arriving in time for a nice raclette dinner with my dear friends H and M. We go back 35+ years. They just had a period of different life events behind them and it was good to catch up. We stayed at their place this week.
  • Spent a day in Aarau, a nice little city where we visited the local art museum.
  • Spent a day in Luzern mostly to visit the Rosengart art collection, with a great range of works by Picasso, Klee, and others like Chagall and Matisse. The collection which started with a drawing by Klee, was built up by Angela Rosengart, initially in collaboration with her father who ran a gallery. She knew many of the artists personally. There weren’t many people around so we could take our time taking in the collection. Really enjoyed it.
  • Had a shareholder meeting with my business partners in my company. There will be some changes in our near future of a personal nature and we discussed how to go about them as a company.
  • Spent a day in Zürich, which we visited by train. Y wanted to visit a specific toy store, E and Y wanted to stock up on Swiss chocolate, and I wanted to loose myself in the Orrel Füssli bookstore, much like last year. I bought 8 mostly recently published books by Swiss and German authors.
  • Had my first board meeting of the foundation Defend Democracy, that I have joined as its treasurer.
  • Spent a day in the snow in the mountains a gondola ride above Engelberg. It was sunny, plenty snow for us to walk in, enjoy and for Y to slide down the slope on a tube. I ignored my dislike for gondola transport, and glad I did.
  • Enjoyed an evening with our friends P and B and their two sons, who live about an hour away from where we were staying.
  • Drove back on Saturday, alongside all those who returned from a skiing holiday, so it was busy on the German Autobahn.
  • Enjoyed a lazy Sunday at home, blogging, browsing and reading.
