Over a week late, but here are the week notes for week 47. I don’t have the inclination lately for these week notes, although at the same time they are a good habit for reflection. As we move towards the end of the year, and the attached psychological effect of organisations thinking it means everything needs to be done by December 31st, things are busy. Every now and then I suggest to people to replace the imaginary deadlines with arbitrary dates, say "imagine it is now 18 February and we plan to finish this by 31 March, how bad is it really if it turns out we’ll do it by 8 April?" to illustrate how irrelevant some of these ‘deadlines’ are.
Anyway.

This week I

  • Wrote a memo on the data streams connected to the corporate sustainability reporting directive and the corporate sustainability due diligence directive.
  • Had the plumber over to unclog the kitchen sink pipes.
  • Participated in the two PKM training sessions
  • Wrote a project proposal and sent it to the client
  • Prepared and facilitated a meeting of the Tactical Council for the EU data strategy.
  • Made an appointment for the winter tires to be put on the car.
  • Had the weekly client meetings
  • Discussed with the team how to make one project run more smoothly, mostly by removing myself as bottleneck in its execution.
  • Had the monthly team face to face half day meet-up, followed by dinner. One colleague is leaving the team, while we are also adding a new colleague again.
  • Had the monthly meeting with a colleague to reflect on how my work is going.
  • Discussed a request for proposal by a water authority with them
  • Picked up GTD style weekly reviews again. When I do these things, at the start of the days and end of the week, I notice improvement in how the days go for me.
  • Took Y to her singing lesson
  • Enjoyed making some conceptual notes for my system.
  • Enjoyed reading non-fiction
  • Did a lot pruning in the garden.
  • Installed some lights in the garden. Turned out that the problem last summer that led to our freezer thawing while we were camping hasn’t actually been solved. The lights work after a work around, but I still need to locate the actual problem in the garden wiring.
