An irregular and very busy week. This week was our annual ‘workation’ with our team. During the pandemic we did a week on a holiday park, renting a separate cabin for everyone. That way we could stay apart but also work and meet together outside. After the pandemic we decided to make it a yearly thing, so that we have time together to discuss the various aspects of our company, make new plans, have fun, evaluate ongoing work etc. Around it there was lots of other work to do, as well as preparation for the coming weeks as I have next week off.
This week I
- Had a session with the main author of a guide for a Dutch data law, about how they approached it, and how other government entities were involved in the process. This as I will be writing a similar guide for a different law, with many of the same government entities.
- Drove to Harderwijk for lunch with the team, before relocating to a holiday park nearby for our ‘workation’
- With colleague M participated in the first session of a German language course on personal knowledge management. I was asked to participate to reflect on its contents, and brought a colleague along who newly started with us. The course will run for six weeks.
- Had the weekly client meetings
- Did the preparation for ‘Open Geo Day’ in two weeks time, where a client team will host a panel.
- Continued planning conversations for an upcoming study trip that a client is organising. I’m aiding with making connections to relevant contacts to meet and visit.
- Spent Wednesday and Thursday mainly in sessions with our own team. Providing financial transparency to the team before discussing pay levels, playing with PKM tools, and doing a session on Systems Convening Landscaping.
- Had dinner with our entire team to mark the ending of the workation, in an Indian restaurant at the harbour front of Harderwijk.
- Met the monthly payroll.
- Did a lot of bookkeeping for the quarterly VAT filings and the annual income and company tax filings, which took most of Friday and the weekend.
- Took Y to her singing choir.
