Aka as the Feynman learning technique: Take a blank page, write down what you know about something in language a 12yr old would understand, spot the weak spots, missing things etc, those are spots you likely need to learn some more, rework everything into a more logical flow/narrative, read it to yourself, if anything stills sounds like skipping steps / hand waving over concepts, go back to deepening your understanding.

I would add that explaining something is different from teaching something.
