Wednesday local elections take place in the Netherlands. Due to pandemic measures, in each municipality a number of polling stations are also open on Monday and Tuesday, to better spread out the number of people. As I will not be in Amersfoort much this week, I took the opportunity to vote this morning immediately.
This week was mostly spent together with colleagues. We relocated the entire team to a holiday park in the hills around Gulpen in the south of the Netherlands, near the Belgian and German borders. Last year we did so for the first time, mostly to be able to work together while also keeping our distance during the pandemic. This time it was not just that, although also that, but mostly because we recognised the value of taking a week together for more in depth discussions, next to our regular tasks, and hanging out together.
This week I
Voted early in the local elections
Added more detail about the Data Act and Data Governance Act to the overview I keep of incoming EU data and digital oriented legislation in Dutch for a client
Had the weekly client meetings
Discussed the impact of the Data Act with the national statistics office, and planned a session to further explore
Discussed how to use the examples I collected in 2020 of open data impact for the EU High Value Data list to find relevant use cases in the Netherlands for the new data laws coming down the pipeline.
Spent most of my time with my colleagues, discussing our plans for the coming time, the ways we want to evolve and learn, and what we need for that…
…as well as just hanging out together, going for a walk through the hills, visit the local Gulpene brewery for a tour, and having dinner together
After conferring with E, booked accomodation at the same park for later this spring to spend a week with the three of us
Spent way too much time too closely following the war news, or absence thereof, from Ukraine.
Traveled back on Thursday evening, in time to help out Y’s teacher, accompanying the class to the local library for a visit on Friday morning
Took Y to her swimming lesson, after enjoying an ice cream in the sun
Had a lazy weekend, not doing much of anything, except finally starting to use my Fairphone
