This is a second attempt to write to my blog from iA writer via Micropub. I wonder how to determine categories, and tags.

Added: it correctly adds timeline as category. It does not add wordpress or indieweb as tag. Ideally you would be able to also indicate post kind (note or article e.g.), and determine draft or published status.
Yeah it’s not actually that interesting. Mainly just drafts for long form posts. It does do Draft by default, but your MicroPub implementation has to support that status. Will need to be added to the WordPress MicroPub plug-in.
If you don’t already have a mobile editor on your phone, you should be able to use Quill https://quill.p3k.io/. Have you tried it?
