About

Blog Interdependent Thoughts maintained since 2002 by Ton Zijlstra.
European citizen in a networked world. Based in the Netherlands, living in Europe, working globally. There are no Others. There is just me and many of you.

I write about how our digital and networked world changes how we work, learn, decide and organize. I explore the tools and strategies that help us navigate the networked world. I am passionate about increasing people's ability to act (knowledge), and their ability to change (learning). Key-words: open data, open government, fablabs, making, complexity, networked agency, networked learning, ethics by design.

    • The EU AI Act Is Ready A final draft of the European AI Regulation is circulating (here’s an almost 900 page PDF). The coming days I will read it with curiosity. With this the ambitious legal framework for everything digital and data that the European Commission set out to create in 2020 has been finished within this Commission period. That’s pretty […]

    • AdTech: Out of Control and Systematically Breaking the Law The conclusion of a report by the Norwegian consumer association, Forbrukerrådet, minces no words: adtech is systematically in breach of GDPR rules. The report’s title is Out of Control. The extent of tracking makes it impossible for us to make informed choices about how our personal data is collected, shared and used, Finn Myrstad, director […]

    • Our Company Blogs The KM consultancy firm I am part of has started an external weblog. Since I started working at Proven Partners, I of course shared my weblogging experiences with my new colleagues. Half of them are now using RSS-readers as a result of those conversations, and now we have started blogging. The weblog is part of […]
