This little old smuggler village on the Swiss-Italian border is located in an extremely steep and narrow valley. On a tradingroute across the alps that dates back to the Middle Ages, with 17th century improvements by the greedy Stockalper from Brig, adapted for Napoleons army and now a modern route across the Simplon.

We walked 21 kilometers of the old route, from Simplon Pass down to Gondo.
