Getting to Enschede

Enschede is a city of 150.000 people on the Dutch-German border. There are various ways to get here.

Our home address:
Amelinkhorst 4
7531GN Enschede
(Google Maps)

Planes
You can fly to Schiphol Airport Amsterdam (Netherlands),
or Hannover Airport (Germany)
or Düsseldorf Airport (Germany)

Of these airports Amsterdam is best connected to Enschede by train (2hr15, twice per hour). Amsterdam is also the most major international hub of these 3.
Düsseldorf is your best option if you want to take a rental car (90 min drive).
Hannover has several train connections per day to Hengelo which is very near Enschede (train runs every 2 hours, and takes about 3 hours)

Trains
From Schiphol Airport Amsterdam:
:19 and :49 of every hour. Takes 2h15.
The :49 is a direct connection, mostly to Enschede, or to Hengelo if you have the international train to Berlin.
The :19 takes one change, at Amersfoort. The train to Enschede in Amersfoort will be on the other side of the same platform.

Once in Enschede, to get to our place the best option is to grab a cab (about €7,50-€9,-) or give us a call (+31 6 344 89 360) and we'll pick you up by car (5 mins drive). (There are busses, but only on a 30min interval and you'll likely miss the connection from your train).

If you happen to be on the international train to/from Berlin, give me a call when you leave Deventer station at +31 6 344 89 360 so we can be there to pick you up in Hengelo.
Hengelo is one station before Enschede, but international trains don't pass through Enschede.

From Düsseldorf Airport (DUS)
Car is fastest (90mins). Train takes twice as long and requires 2 to 4 train changes. If you want to do train, http://www.bahn.de/i/view/DEU/en/index.shtml is where you can plan your trip.

From Hannover Airport
There's a train connection every 2 hours, which takes 3 hours. http://www.bahn.de/i/view/DEU/en/index.shtml is where you can plan your trip

From Brussels/Paris
Take the train to Amsterdam. Change at Rotterdam Central Station. There's a train connection twice per hour from Rotterdam Central Station (takes 2.5 hrs) with one change at Amersfoort.

From Cologne and Germany south of the Ruhr Area.
Take the international train to Amsterdam, change at Arnhem. Then take Intercity train to Zwolle, change at Deventer. Then take Intercity train to Enschede (or international to Hengelo). About 90mins from Arnhem.

From Münster (and Dortmund)
There's a direct connection twice per hour from Münster Hauptbahnhof. Once per hour that train originates in Dortmund.

From Berlin (Northern Germany / Denmark)
Take the train to Amsterdam from Berlin, Hannover or Osnabrück. Alight in Hengelo, give me a call at +31 6 344 89 360 when you're in Bentheim so we can be there to pick you up in Hengelo.

Busses
From Central Station, bus-line 6 to Stokhorst is the only line into our neighbourhood. It leaves at .10 and .40 from the bus stop in front of the train station. Leave at stop Hogeboekelerweg, it is one stop after the end of the official line (it does a circle), so it might be the bus waits for a few minutes one stop earlier (next to a flat and shopping center). Don't worry, just wait, it will go on.

Once off the bus at Hogeboekelerweg, cross the street and head towards the playground. Walk into the street in the corner of the street that goes around the playground, it's the Primulastraat. Nearly at the end of the Primulastraat, on your left hand you see another street. That's our street: Amelinkhorst. You might recognize #4 from its hints to someone having a party ;) (If no such signals are apparent, it's the second house on the right)

Automobiles
Enschede can be reached directly from the A1 and A35 motorways in the Netherlands, as well as from the A31 motorway in Germany.
On the A1 take exit 'Oldenzaal Zuid' and follow signs to Enschede. The A30 German motorway becomes the A1 in the Netherlands.
On the A35 take exit 'Enschede West', 'Enschede Zuid' or 'Enschede Oost' depending on where you need to be in town. For us, take 'Enschede Oost'.
On the A31 Autobahn take exit 'Gronau / Enschede' and follow signs for Enschede/Netherlands on the B54.
