Suggestions
Rythm
The two of us (Elmine and Ton) have been talking about doing these kind of gatherings on a more regular basis, making sure that people that live a bit further out have a chance to plan their visit to Enschede (e.g. the people living in Münster). Right now we're thinking of a two-monthly interval. Dates to be settled for a year in advance. That way it becomes easier to plan for attending. Whoever comes, comes, whoever doesn't, doesn't. It's something Ton uses for stimulating the Dutch
FabLab network as well.
Name
For now we've announced it as a geeklounge, instead of dinner. We would love to have a catchy name (e.g. a friend of ours in Amsterdam called such meetings Pussycat Lounge) but also to create the possibility of doing something different than just a 'geek dinner'. Having dinner is one of the options of course, but we could also sometimes organize
BarCamp-style sessions on some evenings, or workshops and themed meetings (like they do at the German
Webmondays∞), or just hang out, whatever we feel like. In short: we'd like a name that leaves us room to choose whatever format we like for our different Geeklounge meetups.
