Der letzte seiner Art
Whenever we are abroad we are bound to visit at least one bookstore. This is how we found this German science fiction writer Andreas Eschbach, while browsing through a bookstore in Brig in the Swiss Alps. The title we bought then was Quest, which I enjoyed a lot. This book Der letzte seiner Art ('The Last of its Kind') I got as a present for Christmas. I am currently reading it, about a third through and though very different than Quest (about finding the origin of life) also a good story about the loneliest man in the world, and the remnant of a botched US military experiment.
